BROOKSIDE, Alabama — A group of kids from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Alabama (BGCCA) Brookside Unit learned how to ride mountain bikes during a recent outing at Oak Mountain State Park

The outing, on March 8, was sponsored by Trips for Kids Birmingham — a non-profit that provides mountain bike outings and environmental education for needy kids — according to BGCCA spokeswoman Michelle Hewitt in a news release.

Experienced mountain-bike riders from the Birmingham area taught the boys and girls from the club how to ride safely, and the kids then rode the park’s lake trail.

The club members were given a healthy snack before the ride and lunch after the ride.

Thanks to the Boys and Girls Club for their hard work on the Burrell-Country Museum. They painted the inside of the house walls and floors, painted the picket fence and planted some trees in the 1930’s era garden. They worked hard and had a great time.
